Welcome to Tutor Scooter
TutorScooter offers in-person tutoring services in the San Diego, CA area. We also offer online live tutoring sessions.

Our goal is to help catch students up to grade level standards in reading and writing. Once students are past third grade, one-on-one tutoring is the most effective way to keep from falling behind. We welcome adults as well, it is never too late to discover the joy of reading.

The Tutor Scooter Story
I taught language arts and science for thirty years. I started Tutor Scooter because it lets me give students individualized attention—which I know is vital for those that struggle with reading and writing. I want to help students who have fallen through the system and get them caught up in reading and writing. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham structured literacy philosophy and procedures. I’m also trained in the Barton Reading and Spelling Program.
I have three California teaching credentials: secondary life science, social studies and language arts.

Hands-on Science
Experienced Science Educator
Expertise in Life Science and Environmental Science
Most children are excited to learn about science if they get to investigate, play games, make models and conduct experiments. I love to write curriculum and have created many hands-on science lessons to teach students Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in fun and creative ways.

Consider hiring me to teach your scouting group activities that will give them the concepts to earn specific badges. I could also provide weekly science activities for homeschooling cooperatives.
I am a Project WET facilitor, which is a hands-on curriclum teaching water literacy. I can teach both educators or conduct student activities. I was a part-time science teacher for Montessori school of the Valley. I also conducted workshops for preschool teachers about hands-on science activities. Throughout my career, I advised environmental clubs, conducted service projects and both judged and assisted student science fair projects.
